Upgrading your home’s windows or doors with more energy efficient products will save you money on your heating and cooling costs, but it can also qualify you for some great rebates and tax credits.
Of the two available programs, the recently renewed federal tax credit is the largest. Under the “American Taxpayer Relief Act,” Tucson homeowners can receive a tax credit for 10% of cost of their new windows and doors. The credit can be up to $500, but there is a $200 cap for windows alone. This credit applies to purchases of replacement windows and door which meet or exceed the Energy Star efficiency standards for your US region.
More information on the Energy Star Tax Credit can be found at http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=tax_credits.tx_index
The second available program is exclusively for Arizona’s Southwest Gas customers. Customers who have their windows replaced with Energy Star qualified windows will receive a rebate of $0.95/SqFt of windows purchased. With an average window being about 12-16 SqFt, homeowners can expect a rebate of about $100 per 7 new windows.
The Southwest gas rebate is grant-funded and processed on a first-come-first-served, so it’s best to apply soon.
At Weathersby Windows & Doors, we process all the paperwork for the SWG rebate for all of our customers in order to show our appreciation. If you have any questions regarding the tax credits for windows, Energy Star qualifications, or to request a free no-pressure estimate, please feel free to contact us.
